Adventure across the Nile River

The best season to visit Egypt is from June to January, the weather is cooler so it's more enjoyable to visit the wonders that this beautiful place has to offer.

Egypt's weather is dry. There's not much rain, excepting winter, on the south of Cairo City. The average temperature varies between 15 º in winter, and 50º in the summer at the desert. At the Nile Delta zone, the average temperature is of 26º in the summer.

We will pick you up at the airport upon arrival the day your experience begins; your guide will be waiting for you at the airport to take you to your hotel.

There's no mandatory medical request to enter the country; however, if you're going to travel to Egypt it is recommended that you are up to date with the routine vaccinations, such as the the MMR vaccine, the vaccination against tetanus, the diphtheria, whopping cough, polio, and chicken pox vaccines.

The official currency of Egypt is the Egyptian pound, we suggest you to take Euros, since it is well accepted in most of the places around Egypt; in case the Euro is not accepted you can change your money upon your arrival at the airport or at some hotels.

Flights, travel insurance (mandatory), entrance fees to sites visited (allow approx. US$80), tips, meals not indicated in the itinerary, drinks, snacks, and other personal expenses (e.g. laundry).

The minimum recommended age is 16 years old. Children from 5 to 11 years old can take this experience as long as they are accompanied by at least 2 adults of legal age in the same reservation and sharing the room during the tour. Minors must be added in the extras tab and each adult (12 years and older) must pay the mandatory family plan extra. In this way, the appropriate changes will be made to make the experience suitable for minors. If traveling with children from 12 to 15 years old, each one must add the "Travel with Family Adult (12 years old or older) Min. 2" extra and be accompanied by at least 1 responsible adult (18 years old or older) during the tour. Most of the travelers of this experience are between 18 and 30 years old, as it is a bit heavy itinerary. During the night on the falucca (sailing the Nile) they share accommodation with other guests in a "bed" made of mats, travelers usually swim in the Nile, play cards, dance, drink and if the weather permits, sing songs by the campfire on the banks of the Nile River. The maximum recommended age for this experience for people in good physical condition is 60 years old.

You need to have a complete travel insurance that covers any inconvenient such as delayed or cancelled flights, as well as it is recommended to have an insurance for higher medical expenses in case there's an emergency.

If you are a Mexican with an ordinary passport you DO need a visa. You can pay for it upon your arrival to Cairo Airport or other entry ports, but it is recommended that you get it at the Egypt Embassy closest to your residence to prevent any problem. Cost: around 500 and 700 Mexican Pesos.

If you are traveling by yourself and don't want to share a room with any other solo traveler, you can ask for an individual supplement, you'll find the the surcharge and details on "extras".

All hotels have buffet breakfast, the dishes in the buffet allow you to choose between continental breakfast and typical Egyptian breakfast food such as falafel, beans, fruits and vegetables. The falukha includes typical food such as baked potatoes, falafel, rice, vegetables and more, it also includes dessert such as Baklava. Most of the options are vegetarian. The BoxLunch includes sandwiches, fruit, some snacks such as chips, juice, yogurt, among other foods.

The last day is only for transfer to the airport after breakfast.

After the programmed activities and according to the date of your experience you have free time. In addition to sharing with your fellow students and enjoying the hotel facilities, we recommend some of the activities we have in the "extras" section. In Cairo you can: Visit the Grand Egyptian Museum (the new museum), Tahrir Square, Khan al-Khalili Bazaar, the Coptic Quarter, among other places. We also recommend you to enjoy the Egyptian gastronomy in typical restaurants.

The hotels during this experience are comfortable and have very good service. Cairo: Oasis Pyramids Hotel or similar as Swiss inn Hotel. Cairo to Aswan: Overnight on board bus with A/C and reclining seat*. Aswan: Basma Hotel or similar as Helnan Hotel. By falucca (sailing boat on the Nile River): Overnight in the open air on mats (no cabins or rooms). Luxor: Hotel Lotus or similar Steigenberger luxor Hotel. Hurghada: Hotel Caves Resort or similar as Samra Bay hotel resort. Rooms in double or triple occupancy. If 1 person is traveling unaccompanied, share a double room with another travel companion. If 2 people travel in the same reservation they have a private double room. If 3 people travel in the same reservation they have a triple private room. *Optional to take flight from Cairo to Aswan (with supplement, see 'extras' section), with this option you sleep in Aswan and do not spend the night in bus. *Optional change bus from Cairo to Aswan by train, with this option you sleep in a shared cabin with 3 other people. Each cabin has 2 bunk beds.

The voltage and frecuency is of 220 V/ 50 Hz. The plug ins are type C / F., so you will need an adapter

They are small sailing boats (usually they can carry between 8 and 10 passengers, plus a couple of people as crew) and in this itinerary you spend one night on this boat. They have 2 levels, the first is a large space where you eat and sleep, you also find a half bathroom (no shower). The second floor or space is a small terrace where you can take amazing pictures at sunset and party with your companions and guide. The crew puts small mattresses on the second floor for the night and you are given sheets to cover yourselves. We recommend that you bring your own sleeping bag in case you get cold. The Faluca does not allow children under 16 years old for safety measures and possible night parties.

Travel insurance is compulsory on all of our tours and needs to cover personal accident & liability, medical expenses and repatriation, travel delay & abandonment. We also strongly recommend that you take out cover against cancellation and lost/stolen baggage. Personal medical insurance does not normally provide sufficient cover and is generally not suitable for travel on our tours. You will not be able to join your tour if you have not provided us with details of your insurance or if you arrive without cover in place (no refunds will be due in this event).

We recommend travelers to purchase a local SIM card upon arrival should you wish to stay in touch with friends and family back home. Internet is widely available; however, it is costly to use within hotels and on the cruise boats and may be unreliable.

Travelers can arrive anytime on day one. The tour includes a 24-hour airport meet & assists service from Cairo International Airport - your arrival and departure airport-hotel transfers and all other transfers. Please note, the check in time at the hotel is after 12:00 at noon

The tour covers most of the highlights in Egypt, which involve long journeys, a fair amount of walking, and overnight traveling.

We do sightseeing in the morning until late afternoon; travelers will have a free time in the evening.

While in Egypt you will need sufficient funds to cover meals not included in the itinerary, drinks, snacks, souvenirs and personal expenses such as laundry. These should generally all be paid for in Egyptian Pounds. You may also need to pay for the tour Tipping Kitty and site Entrance Fees while you are in Egypt. Payments for these may be made to your tour guide in hard currency (USD, GBP, EUR) at the start of your tour. It is difficult to recommend a level of personal spending money which will suit everyone as this can differ greatly, but as a guideline, we would suggest allowing USD 15-25 per person per day as a minimum. Allow more if you plan on doing lots of shopping, or buying alcoholic drinks.

Most of your time in Egypt will be in a hot climate. However, at night, and especially in the deserts, the temperatures can drop quite dramatically. So you must pack for cool conditions. Formal dress (eg. suits & ties) is not required at the hotel restaurants. Long sleeves are recommended to protect from mosquitoes if you are on the felucca. Modesty rates highly in Egypt, especially for women, so to respect the local culture & people, please ensure all clothes are loose fitting and not revealing. Shorts (not hot-pants) are OK in tourist sites, as are T-shirts, but these should not show too much bare flesh (we suggest that your shoulders should remain covered). In the centre of Cairo, if you are visiting any mosques, legs and arms should be covered. Other items: If you will be travelling on a felucca then we recommend bringing a light sleeping sheet or sleeping bag liner all year round for comfort, and a light sleeping bag in the winter months (November to February). We also recommend you bring a sun hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, a basic first aid kit, toiletries, small towel, money belt, small torch, camera & charger.

The check in is usually after 2 or 3 pm, this may vary from one place to another. If you get there before this schedule, we suggest leaving your luggage at reception and walking around the area until your room is ready. Check out is usually at 12 pm, but this also may vary from one place to another. We suggest asking for this information on arrival at the accommodation. It is important to follow this schedule; otherwise, additional charges may apply (to be paid on destination, not included).

Many workers in Egypt are very poorly paid and depend on tips for their main income. Tipping is part of the culture in Egypt and requests for tips can be infuriatingly persistent. The tour representative in Egypt will collect $3 USD per day per person in advance on the first day of the tour to cover tipping for services provided during the tour regarding drivers, waiters, bell men/ porters, hotel staff etc. However the tips for the tour guides are excluded from this rate and are completely optional. If you decide to tip the tour guides, tips are usually between 5-10% of according to the services.

No; before the tour starts, the tour representative has to report to the local authorities the exact places that are going to be visited, as well as the restaurants where the tour stops. Therefore, the venues can't be changed. However, we will do our best to arrange this beforehand according to the passengers preferences. You can buy a souvenir or not in the shops that are visited, this is completely up to you.

Board the falucca in Aswan on day 4. You enjoy the scenery of the Nile River while sailing; the captain will anchor on some occasions to take breaks, stretch your legs, take your meals and of course jump into the Nile River, a once in a lifetime experience. If necessary you can use one of the floats. The food included is typical Egyptian and consists of mainly vegetarian dishes such as falafel, baked potatoes, hummus, Arabic bread, rice, and much more, you can also eat some desserts such as Baklava (contains pistachios and nuts) and fruits. At night you can relax, enjoy traditional Bedouin music and party. You sleep together with your fellow travelers on mattresses on the bottom of the falucca because there are no rooms on the boat. The bathroom is also shared and consists of a sink and toilet. The next day you will sail early in the morning to visit the temple of Kom Ombo with the local guide. Your luggage is stored in a special compartment for suitcases and backpacks. The tour group is divided into 8 passengers per falucca.

Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months taking into consideration your arrival date to the places visited, as well as your departure date.

It is a night train with the ERW line. The cabins have a small sink and 2 bunk beds, so you share the stay with 3 more people. The journey takes approximately 12 hours. Check the extras section to know the charge for changing from bus to train.

The flight from Cairo to Aswan is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes and includes one (1) piece of luggage of 15 kilos. By including this change you have included transfers Hotel - Airport - Hotel. Depending on the flight departure time you will have an extra night in Cairo or Aswan. Flight times are generally at 8:30 PM on day 2 or 3:00 AM on day 3, depending on availability. The bus for internal transfers has A/C, reclining seats, two access doors (one in the front and one in the middle) and a bathroom (sink and toilet). The windows are panoramic style to enjoy the scenery. During the hottest seasons you can buy bottled water directly on the bus. It has capacity for approximately 40 passengers and special spaces for luggage storage.
