The experience begins in Santa Marta, Colombia. You can get to the Santa Marta airport (SMR) at least 1 day before, or if you prefer you can also get to Barranquilla (BAQ) or Cartagena (CTG). Yes, you have free time during the trek.

You will stay at a hammock in different camps, a blanket is provided to you.

We highly suggest getting one that covers anything from medical accidents to flight inconvenients.

We recommend travelling light, a backpack of no more than 10-20 kg.

You will be back at Santa Marta by 5 pm

We suggest arriving a day before to Santa Marta, since the trek begins at 9 am on the first day.

This experience is perfect at any time, excepting September and from Dec. 21 to January 5th. The "DRY" season runs from December to early March, and the "WET" (rain) season runs from March to November.

The weather is hot and humid. The lowest temperatures are in the nights with 16°C (60,8° F).

To begin this experience it is necessary to have a PCR test with negative result and date of issue of the previous day. We suggest getting the Yellow Fever vaccination and the Tetanus vaccination. This is not a suitable experience for pregnant women and people with heart and respiratory diseases.

The place has all the necessary equipment to communicate the staff right away in case there's any accident, so you can get the medical attention required. If the injury is more serious, the National Army would take control of the situation to bring the best medical attention, including transportation to a clinic by mule, vehicle or helicopter according to whatever is needed. If there's any accident during the tour, you must inform the guides and the staff right away, as well as the people who are at the local offices, so the insurance is valid.

The group size is of 16 people in average.

The meals included are a combination of typical regional food which is prepared by experienced cooks during the trek. These include fruits, snacks, eggs, bread, coffee, chocolate, rice, beans, meat, chicken, soup and pasta, among other things.

Yes! Remember the accommodation will be in hammocks or beds according to availability. You will get mosquito nets and blankets. There are no private rooms during the trek, the accommodation is provided by locals and it is usually at campsites.

The minimum age required is 13. This experience is not suggested for adults over 55.

We suggest booking a hotel at the historical center of Santa Marta.

The Lost City area doesn't have phone coverage nor internet. You will only find these in Santa Marta.

We suggest traveling with a flashlight and extra batteries, since there is very limited electricity in the area.

You must be in good shape, and be able to walk on unsteady roads in the middle of the jungle for long hours.

You should take short sleeved t-shirts, short trousers, and swimming suit for the day. We suggest long sleeved shirts for the nights to avoid the mosquito bites and wearing repellent. Don't forget your bottled water, sunblock, comfortable walking shoes, and camera. You can bring your sleeping bag for extra comfiness and a jacket, just in case. The best is to pack light and include 2 plastic bags to separate your dry clothing from the wet clothing.

Teyuna is a sacred place for Native people, please remember to respect the past and the customs of the town: • Respect the privacy of farmers and Indians. • Do not come into their houses or take pictures without asking them first. • Consider that it is a raining, humid and tempered zone with cold nights between 18° and 22°. • Please take just the essential stuff, the weight of your backpack is an important factor for your comfort. • Bring all the garbage back to Santa Marta, the National Park and the surrounding area do not have garbage recollection service. • Take care and respect all you find, do not damage the natural and cultural goods. • Inside the park there is no signal for mobile phones, so let know to your family and friends that you will have communication once you get back to Santa Marta.

The currency used in Colombia is the Colombian Peso (COP). We recommend that you change into your local currency before arriving in the country. It is also possible to change mainly dollars and euros in some exchange offices, airport and ATMs upon arrival in the country. It is also important that the passport has at least six months validity from the return of the trip.
